Japanese Hamburger (ハンバーグ)

My husband does not complain if I make stir-fried veggies, but he gives me a hint that he wants to have beef or pork in the dish.

Okay, okay.

How about this?  Japanese Hamburger

Ingredients:

1 pound of Ground Pork
1 pound of Ground Beef
1 Egg
1 onion
1 teaspoon of oil (for sauting onion)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-2 slice of bread crumbs
1-2 Tablespoons milk
Preparation: Chop onion.  Saute the onion in a pan with oil until lightly browned.  Let cool.  Place all ingridients in a bowl.
Mix well (by your hand).
Form into patties (I made 9 nice sized ones).  My dad taught me to play catch with your hands to release the air inside of the patties.  Indent the middle with your thumb.  It will help to cook the patty throughly.
Heat a pan (I love my lodge castiron pan!).  Start with high heat.  When the pan is hot, pour a small amount of oil.  Cook until browned.
Turn the patties over and lower the heat.  Cover with a lid and cook for 8-10 minutes.

These freeze very well.  I wrap each one with plastic wrap.
